What happens if I have to cut the line? Just simply re thread the line through the rod rings and tie the release clip ring to the line. This can be done in less than a minute!

Can Children use The Dog Fisher? Yes they can but all Children under 16 must be supervised by an adult.

Do I need to wear safety glasses? In the interest & Health & Safety you MUST wear some form of eye protection like regular glasses, sunglasses or safety glasses.

How long should my dog use The Dog Fisher for? The Dog Fisher is at the top level of exercise for your dog and will give them far more exercise than fetching a ball. With this in mind it is best to use it for short periods at first. Try a couple minutes to start with and see how your dog is feeling. As a caring owner you will know when your dog has had enough! Different dogs have different abilities and you have to take into account your dog’s age as well. So my advice is to start with small sessions and see how it goes! This especially applies to the Terrier breeds as they never know when to give up!

Should I have Water for my dog to drink with me? YES you must have water for your dog to drink with you. As mentioned The Dog Fisher is at the top level of exercise for your dog and will give them far more exercise than fetching a ball and will make them very thirsty, so please make sure you have plenty of water with you for your dog.

How long does it take to change the toys over? About 2 seconds!

How far do the toys cast? The fish toys will cast at least 7m and the tennis balls will cast a lot further depending on the wind! Please bear in mind that anything over 5m and you will struggle to be able to whip the toy back to give continuous movement. If you cast one of the toys 5m and the dog gets near it, then whip the toy away it will travel 10m! Meaning your dog has got to run 10m to catch up with the toy.

Do I need to cast the toys? No you do not and I would advise that you don’t to start with. When you are familiar with using The Dog Fisher then you can attempt to start casting. Unless you are already proficient in using a fishing rod and reel!

Can I leave my dog alone with the toys? No these toys are for cashing and grabbing only and you must get the toys back from your dog as soon as possible after they have released them from the release clip ring. Quickly putting on  another toy will distract your dog and help enable you to get the first toy back!

Can I replace a broken clip on a toy? Yes you can and it takes under a minute to change. Each toy comes with a spare clip and you can buy spare clips in packs of 10 from The Dog Fisher store.

Can I put the release clips and rings on some of my dogs other toys? Yes you can as long as they are not too heavy.

Can I make my own toys? Yes you can! You can buy a spares pack from The Dog Fisher store which will enable you to make up to 5 toys of your own and have spare release clips for each toy.

Do The Dog Fisher toys release easily when my dog grabs and pulls them? Yes they do and each clip is adjustable to make them easier or harder to release depending on the size of your dog.

How long does The Dog Fisher take to set up? To remove The Dog Fisher rod and reel from the bag and set it up takes no longer than 20 seconds.

How long does the dog fisher take to put away? To close The Dog Fisher rod down and put it back in the bag takes about 25 seconds. Included in all combo Sets is a small rubber mat which helps to grip the tip section of the rod to make it easier to close it. Please see “How to Use the Dog Fisher” in the main menu page for a tutorial YouTube video for a demonstration.

Is there a difference between using the Tennis Ball toy and the Fish toys? Yes there is. The Tennis Ball toy will cast a lot further and is better for a more bouncing around action but is not so good at dragging around on the ground as this can twist up the line. The Fish toys don’t cast as far but are better suited to dragging around on the ground and are still great for bouncing around as well.

Do you need to have the quick release toys? When I first started to use this concept I did not have a quick release clip and I quickly determined the necessity of safety and practicality to ensure The Dog Fisher was user friendly but also safe to use with your dog. Imagine having a 30kg Bull Terrier running off with a toy that is tied directly to the fishing line without a release clip! It is fun but it is not safe. The quick release clip eliminates this issue.

Is The Dog Fisher better than a flirt pole? Yes it is! With The Dog fisher you have much more range as you are not fixed to one length. You can cast out and retrieve the toy giving your dog varied distance compared to a flirt pole which is just fixed to one length. Unlike a flirt pole The Dog Fishers toys release when your dog grabs hold of them and pulls. The problem with flirt poles is that the toys are fixed and larger dogs invariably snap the poles when they try to run off with the toys. The Dog fisher toys are also interchangeable and be swapped over in under two seconds unlike a flirt pole which only has one toy that is fixed.
